Peekaboo is a personal triumph for me because I wrote the song predominantly by myself. 2-time #1 hit songwriter and producer Paul Sikes jumped in to help me add some more depth to the chorus and bridge. This song represents that intoxicating, whimsical feeling of pursuing someone that can’t quite commit to you. This sort of neon, technicolor love can’t exist without darkness. The complexity of these emotions is balanced through a contrast in production and lyrics, which feel lullaby-like yet rhythmically pulsing. The overall dusky, twilight feel of the song is perfect for the hazy musings of the vocals. The idea that love is this overpowering force that often overrides and supersedes all other loyalties and emotions is sort of captivating to me I suppose.
